“The battle you are going through is not fueled by the words or actions of others; it is fueled by the mind that gives it importance.” ― Shannon L. Alder (Goodreads)
Life sometimes moves forward at incredible speeds. Other times it crawls slower than Sydney rush hour traffic. Periodically, it comes to a screeching halt behind an accident. We make a variety of mental choices when it happens: speed over the limit when traffic is cruising, curse at the other drivers on the road, or bury our heads in despair when the road ahead of us is closed.
Events happen in life much in the same way as they do on the road, and our thoughts at these times can either make or break us. When we react negatively, lamenting “woe is me,” then our situation will only grow worse. Our minds focus on the negative and thus as Shannon Alder so elegantly put, the battle, or in this case negative circumstances are “fueled by the mind that gives it importance.”
This is where health and wellness coaching enters our lives. We struggle to see the negative cocoon we have surrounded ourselves with because we are living in it. In some ways we feel dependent upon that negative cocoon for it has become a part of us. A health and wellness coach is separate from us and is therefore able to see our situation in a different light. Once a coach understands where you are coming from, they help you to set goals to change your perspective and mentality from negativity to positivity and then act as your personal cheerleader and support team to keep you on track.
Our mind is our greatest tool, but if we fall into negativity it becomes our greatest weakness. Do not let negative thoughts and behaviors rule you. Strive for a positive lifestyle. Contact us to find out if health and lifestyle coaching is for you.
